Synopsis

Below is the creation of my synopsis that I have designed in order to emphasise all of the significant moments and tell the story to a mass audience.

Four fame seeking teenagers have their hopes shattered upon loosing the chance  of achieving multi million pound success. This unfortunate glimpse of reality springs their way as they are harshly confronted by three industry professionals an unexpected turn of events has its toll on the individuals and tensions start to boil. Mysteriously a judge is murdered which is shortly followed by a domino effect of deaths. One by one the murderous suspect alternates as the elimination process begins. Who will survive? Is success worth the death of others?

Secondly I have applied my synopsis to Todorov's theory and identified whether or not the synopsis follows similar codes and conventions of other Film Synopsis'. The features used in other synopsis' to tell a story are:

  • Setting
  • Protagonists
  • Stock Characters
  • Stock Situations

The setting is showed when the term "3 industry professionals" is used, as it highlights some sort of auditioning process. The protagonist is a hidden mystery that is identified within the film, yet is hindered at the phrase "One by one the murderous suepect alternates".  Stock Characters include the other band hopefuls and the judges within the piece as there is only one protagonist within the film. Finally, stock situations includes the auditioning room and the unexpected murder of the judge followed by the rest of the characters. The rectorial questions use the tone of a game show presenter, creating the theme of a competition as well as building up excitement and fear.
